  Meeting Poland XII 2009

Another meeting within the framework of the Project: „A Sound Mind in A Sound Body” took place in Łódź, on 13-18
December 2009.

The main goal of this meeting was to present our partners the basic, theoretical background of our Project activities. Our intention was to develop broad understanding of adult education. During project activities we were trying to prove that physical activity is very important in certain age, how important it is to pursue hobbies, learn new things, e.g. languages, how important it is to learn about new cultures. We remembered about important aspects of our activities- gaining theoretical and didactical background. Adult education, especially 50+ is quite a challenge: there is a need to overcome fear, shyness, prejudices, low self-confidence of potential students, their learning attitudes and other barriers. Learning efficiency is different, moreover there is a need of teaching in a specific way. As a didactic center the Academy of Management has some experience in this field, so the Academy would like to share the knowledge with the other project partners. The aim was to present the big change in the field of adult education that took place in the last few years and present many different possibilities offered by adult education to our beneficiaries. Of course, we had in mind the cultural aspect of the meeting: for many of our guests it was the first visit to Poland, so we wanted to show our Christmas customs and the most beautiful places in the city of Łódź to them.
